The Federal Department of Education functions as a Cartel handing out money to the appointed, and annointed insiders and friends of the King. Keep reading to learn why.
New York State provides $5.7 billion for K-12 education annually.
States are going broke. They are closing schools, eliminating all funding for athletics and activities, going to a four-day academic week.
• Cut 17 teaching positions, 20 six-hour classified positions and 1.5 full-time-equivalent administrator positions, $2 million.
• Cut $2 million in other labor costs. This could be done with eight or nine days out of the school year, or by rolling back salaries 4 percent, freezing step increases and looking to other labor reductions, such as cutting prep time and personal days.
• Cut $600,000 set aside for new science books.
• Cut $100,000, between 5 and 6 percent, from supplies/activities/athletics. That’s on top of reductions already made for this year.
• $100,000 in reductions to maintenance and custodial budgets, staff development, and the district office’s human resource and business departments.
• Use $1.5 million from reserves and a $600,000 facility grant the state provided after Timber Ridge School was built.
