K12 EDUCATION REMOTE LEARNING IN THE UNITED STATES

K12 REMOTE LEARNING  #RemoteLearning #K12RemoteLearning

Every School district seems to be doing this differently across America.

Citizens who can are staying at home with their kids will  help them learn. Others who can’t might be lucky enough to have a city with Regional Enrichment Centers, to provide childcare for nurses, cops and other essential  workers who have no other options for their children.

For the past 20 Years there has been a DIGITAL DIVIDE

Sorry to say not every student will be able to get online because they don’t have the right technology at home. These students will  get papers sent home from schools.

The Department of Education has Betsy Devoss – and the “official policy”

No Worries

This isn’t about recreating the classroom. You don’t have to have a schedule. That is an idea used for classroom management.

The is about remote learning. It’s about learning on your own, with or without a teacher, on your own time, on something the student is interested in and  wants to do right now.

HOW

It’s simple – Whatever the student is doing – whatever they are interested in learning about needs to involve one of these or all of these. So think about whatever the student is doing can be interdisciplinary.

Think #STEAM

STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art and math.

Focus on the K12 activity and how it can be described as learning something about science, technology, engineering, art and math.

Every experience any student is involved with relates to one or more of these.

Using STEAM education results in students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.

You can do this with preschoolers all the way up to 12th grade.

EXAMPLE

Use the K12Playground.com https://k12playground.com/

Focus on the activity YOU ARE DOING and how it can be described as learning something about science, technology, engineering, art and math.

Use your Phone – Make a video that shows and explains the work — this #project   uses several skills that can involve the arts and technology plus the topic of the video itself that might involve explaining the science, or involves using math in some way. Prove the work / show what you do.
