Sorry, Andrea — the New York Times would beg to differ. their own version of Journalism 101 goes something like this:
if Democrats say democracy is awesome and Republicans say democracy sucks all ass and Donny Convict should be God-Emperor for Life, it’s not the Times’ job to get involved with “partisan bickering.”
New York Times editor Joe Kahn says defending democracy is a partisan act and he won’t do it
here’s the exact quote:
“To say that the threats [to] democracy are so great that the media is going to abandon its central role as a source of impartial information to help people vote — that’s essentially saying that the news media should become a propaganda arm for a single candidate, because we prefer that candidate’s agenda.”
