The Work of Children
I am a teacher and always thought kids using their playground chants and songs which they practiced everyday in school – was their work! They used their music, their bodies with clapping, rhythm and chanting to strengthen the pathways of language and learning to read, especially when using their own poetry. Tell me how else 4th graders all learned to correctly spell Dr. Knickerbocker, doctor, nurse, alligator, or purse!! These aren’t 4th grade reading and spelling words!!
