You have a bought and paid for Supreme Court.
That’s not a democracy, republic, or any other “for the people” crap. America has become a cess pool of corruption. You elected a felon & are okay with that. That’s just embarrassing. Then they formed a mutant J6 committee breaking established norms that let any hint of legitimacy fly out the window. Cue the clowns…..
And what the hell was Eric Garland doing for 4yrs??
#MerrickGarland
@TheJusticeDept
NOTHING! It will be judged *the* greatest failure & possibly one fatal to our democracy itself. From Cannon to Garland to SCOTUS.
What an epic failure. Judges allowed him to constantly delay and appeal everything to keep his sorry ass out of jail/court. Now he’s going back into the WH. Again if this was ANYONE else, they’d be in jail.

The inability of the entire legal system — prosecutors, judges, justices, lawyers — to hold Trump accountable will be judged one of the
greatest failures of American democracy.

The Supreme Court was the biggest failure here. If they had accepted the decision of the Appellate Court which basically affirmed that no man is above the law, Donald Trump would have been convicted of espionage in the documents case. The corruption of John Roberts is on display!
We now know for a FACT that Trump paid for the Rioters on 1/6/21. Therefore he is disqualified from holding office!!!!!!!
Do NOT let him back in!!!!!!
Article 3 of the 14th amendment could NOT be clearer!!!!!!!!

“Garland” should become a verb to describe failing in the way that “Google” is used to describe web searching.

Until we figure out a way to prevent the wealthy from using their resources to gum up the court system and run out the clock, our two-tiered criminal justice system will continue to convict and incarcerate poor criminals at a fast clip while letting the rich ones skate via money.

The bombastic failure of the legal system is the absolute reason why people and I included, are cheering and sympathizing with Luigi Mangione. If the official system can’t punish evil, then the citizens must take it up to themselves.

The fact that so much of becoming president has just been on the honor system this whole time kinda blows my mind. There are all these rules that have zero consequences I’d they aren’t followed because no one imagined a president would just say no to them.

So Trump was planning to use Gaetz’s prostitution and heavy drug use as kompromat so he could control him as Attorney General and ensure his total loyalty and obedience? Got it.

Bitcoin will fix the money for all the people in the world, making the world a better place.  I try my best to help people learn about it. Bitcoin separates money from government and banks, it helps everyone world wide. It will become the money for the world.

We are at the end of 2024 and I’ve been asking since the 1990’s when will the Department of Education start teaching Financial Literacy in K12 Schools? The answer is they Never Will !!!

You may not be ready yet …. but it’s best to think about 1 USD = 1 Satoshi that is the future. The Fed can’t have the public find out that the they have  lost control of USD .  It is all going to BTC.

Future of Wealth: “Bitcoin will redefine wealth, just like oil did for Rockefeller.” Early adopters of BTC could see transformational success as the financial world shifts from fiat to digital value.

There will be a  national Bitcoin reserve, because of its growing recognition as a strategic asset. You are alive to witness the first man  made engineered perfect digital money become a brand new asset class for the first time on earth.

NGU technology in cryptocurrency refers to the fundamental characteristic of Bitcoin’s price appreciation over time, driven by supply and demand.

The term “NgU technology” has been used as a joke or oversimplification by some Bitcoin educators, but its primary meaning is related to the cryptocurrency market.

FASB Accounting Rule has Changed

Companies can adopt these changes early, but they must be implemented for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2024, including interim periods within those fiscal years. If a company chooses early adoption, it must be applied at the beginning of the fiscal year, including that interim period.

More Rocket Fuel For Bitcoin (FASB) rule change goes into effect
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TrOU__rK2M
In this video, I discuss the new FASB accounting rules that will allow Bitcoin to be treated using fair value accounting. This will be a big improvement over treating Bitcoin as an intangible asset. The latter method led inevitably to all of the bad headlines surrounding balance sheet impairment and made it less desirable for corporations to hold Bitcoin on their balance sheets. This new accounting is yet another step on the path to Bitcoin becoming the most desired store of value in the world for individuals, corporations, and nation-states. Not investment advice! Tether exists only by the grace of Uncle Sam who refuses to go after the banks that hold Treasuries for Tether.
Tether helps to prop up the US government by buying its debt.
Tether spreads US dollar hegemony wherever it goes.
It’s high time to “cut the tether” that’s holding back humanity.
I don’t care that Tether has been buying Bitcoin for its treasury or that it invests in the Bitcoin ecosystem. Those are two activities that any smart and successful company will do anyway.

Why Tether’s $1.3B Bitcoin Play Should Terrify The Fed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Hip96YEP9Q
Preston Pysh reveals how Tether is quietly converting $1.3B in US Treasury  profits into Bitcoin, creating a concerning situation for the Federal Reserve. The discussion explores Tether’s strategy of buying short-term Treasury bills, generating massive profits, and systematically converting them to Bitcoin. Pysh breaks down his conversation with Tether’s CEO Paolo Ardoino about their rejection of long-term bonds and explains why this growing trend could fundamentally reshape the relationship between government debt and Bitcoin.

The concept of “fiat” really goes back to the Civil War.
In 1862, Abraham Lincoln started printing “greenbacks” that were not convertible into gold, but were declared “legal tender”.
450 million of these were printed.
Amazingly, gold-backed dollars co-existed with the new greenbacks. When the North was winning, the gold dollars were worth only a 10% premium to the greenbacks. When the south looked good, the premium expanded to 300%.
In the end, fiat won the war.

Health insurance corporate shares drop upon newly proposed legislation to break up healthcare megacorporations

Half of all U.S. adults say they’d be unable to afford an unexpected $500 medical expense, and medical bills account for 40% of U.S. bankruptcies.

The nation’s top private health insurers have spent over $120 BILLION since 2010 lining top shareholders’ pockets with lucrative stock buybacks. It’s no coincidence that among those top investors are the very executives who authorize buybacks in the first place. Longtime Cigna CEO David Cordani, a public detractor of universal health care, has amassed over 1.2 million shares in the company’s stock — worth $364 million today, financial records from earlier this year show.
As of this February, Elevance Health CEO Gail Boudreaux — an industry veteran who’s also worked for Aetna and UnitedHealth — owned a massive stake in her current employer worth nearly $149 million today.

Stock buybacks were considered ‘illegal manipulation’ until 1982, then Ronald Reagan changed that.
Since 2010, the country’s top health insurers have dropped over $120 BILLION on buying back their own stock.
In recent years, execs across the health care industry have authorized more spending on stock buybacks than on R&D.
Health Insurers Gave $120 Billion To Shareholders While Denying Your Claim
The country’s largest insurers spent $120 billion on stock buybacks since 2010, with nearly half of that spent by UnitedHealth.
Largest insurer. Highest denial rate. Largest part of the problem. I don’t see a lot of reflection on that. @UHC

Since the ACA, the largest health insurers raked in $371 billion in profits, raised family premiums to $26k/year & just paid their CEOs $75 million in annual compensation. UnitedHealth reaped 40% of these profits & now denies 1 in 3 claims.

A All I can see is “$$$$$, $$$, $$$$ $$ $$ $$$$$ $$$, $% & $$$$$$$$”
For what it’s worth , their CEO was made a knight – he is Sir Andrew Witty, CBE.
This is going to cost UnitedHealth billions, people won’t trust the insurance company anymore because they’ll associate it with the assassination.

Before United, Witty was CEO of drug giant GSK which paid out $3 billion for marketing psych drugs to teens, bribing doctors, and failing to disclose the risks of the diabetes drug Avandia. It was the single largest pharma settlement in U.S. history:

America: The final holdout among the world’s industrialized developed countries. It’s past time. People have long opined that the entire point of the AARP is to sell shit to seniors. AARP is just a marketing vehicle / insurance company.
David Dayen @ddayen
In all the talk about UnitedHealth, there’s been one missing discussion: its primary partner in Medicare and Medicare Advantage, which leverages its massive audience to steer to the insurer, is AARP. This never gets enough attention. Big numbers involved:
For 27 years, UnitedHealth has been the co-branded choice of AARP. If you are looking for a supplemental policy to conventional Medicare, or a Medicare Advantage product, or a Medicare drug insurance policy, AARP will steer you to UnitedHealth. And only to UnitedHealth.
The reason is shameful. UnitedHealth kicks back 4.95 percent of premium income from AARP subscribers to AARP. And the numbers are staggering. According to AARP’s audited financia report, AARP made $289.3 million from member dues, but $1.134 billion from kickbacks from insurers, of which the lion’s share, $905 million, was from health insurers. AARP delicately refers to these as royalties.
And somehow, because it is a nonprofit, AARP manages to avoid income taxes on this kickback income. Despite Congress’s efforts over the years to make nonprofits pay taxes on commercial income, AARP paid only about $3 million in federal income taxes on “royalties” of well over a billion.

Top U.S. Cybersecurity Official: China Attacks on American Infrastructure ‘Tip of the Iceberg’ CISA Director Jen Easterly said China’s cyberattacks seek to cause ‘societal panic’ in the event of a US-China war
A top U.S. cybersecurity official said Wednesday that as she prepares to leave office, China-backed attacks on American infrastructure pose the gravest cyber threat to the country. And she believes they will get worse.
Jen Easterly, the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, called recent Chinese cyber intrusions the “tip of the iceberg,” and warned of dire consequences for U.S. critical infrastructure in the event of a U.S.-China conflict. “This is a world where a war in Asia could see very real impacts to the lives of Americans across our nation, with attacks against pipelines, against water facilities, against transportation nodes, against communications, all to induce societal panic,” Easterly said during the Winter Summit of the Cyber Initiatives Group Wednesday.

Microsoft only exists because IBM made one of the greatest strategic blunders in history back in the early 80s, mistakenly believing that software alone was not a real business.
I guess IBM thought “if you can’t touch it, it isn’t valuable”. Turns out being untouchable is an advantage.
When it comes to Bitcoin, maybe MSFT thinks “if you can’t control it with burdensome licensing agreements it isn’t valuable”.  Anyhow, they’re about to find out.

Microsoft shut it down, with only 28 million out of 5 billion shares backing a Bitcoin investment assessment.
Meanwhile, Vancouver’s city council said Yes to exploring a Bitcoin treasury.

A new federal rule from the CFPB caps overdraft fees at $5. The typical fee is currently $35. The rule will limit banks to $5 or the amount that covers their costs and losses. The change is estimated to save American consumers $5 billion annually.

Bitcoin is trading stubbornly below the $100,000 mark, putting the brakes on a blistering post-election rally.
The world’s biggest cryptocurrency has risen over 40% since Nov. 5, the day of the U.S. election which saw Donald Trump re-elected as president. Analysts named a number of reasons for the pause, including profit-taking by investors.

POLITICS

The lifelong criminal got away with everything.

Armed with a new conservative supermajority on the U.S. Supreme Court and a federal judiciary stacked with Donald Trump’s picks, the Christian far right sees a revived opportunity to overturn decades of legal precedent.

We are the inept and corrupt nation we fought against.

Historic moment for Arizona! @GovernorHobbs just certified Proposition 139, the ballot measure enshrining abortion rights into the state’s constitution. This is a huge victory for reproductive freedom in the Southwest.

Democrats should steal what’s been a highly successful move from the Republicans: Don’t provide any votes for the things that the GOP majority wants to do, no matter what they are.

Elon Musk Admits X is Throttling Links — Effectively Limiting People From Reading News
Washington Post analysis in August 2023 revealed that X had imposed delays on links to rival platforms like Facebook, Bluesky, and Substack, as well as news outlets such as the New York Times. These delays, routed through X’s t.co domain, reportedly reduced traffic to targeted websites, potentially impacting their ad revenue.

The evidence that Donald Trump committed multiple egregious criminal acts is overwhelming and unrefuted. The U.S. legal system is incapable of withstanding a criminal presidency. Jack Smith is also dropping his appeal in the classified documents case against Donald Trump. He is not dropping the appeal against Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliviera.
TRAGIC DAY  @JoeBiden performatively pardoned turkeys while our designated white knight Jack Smith filed to dismiss all federal charges on Trump. Simultaneously, unelected plutocrat Elon Musk openly plans American apartheid. FUCK MERRICK GARLAND

Chinese spies and the security of America’s networks
https://www.brookings.edu/articles/chinese-spies-and-the-security-of-americas-networks/
“ Americans, your calls and texts can be monitored by Chinese spies,” a Washington Post opinion piece recently headlined. China has “growing cyber-sophistication and relentless ambition to undermine U.S. infrastructure” another Post article reported. Some analyses trace the recent exploitation to a telecommunications network backdoor created early in the era of digital networks to allow for court-authorized wiretaps.

When the digital wiretap law was passed in 1994,
no one foresaw the kind of sophisticated intrusions apparently developed by the Chinese. It is an experience that we must remember as the design of digital network technology continues to evolve. ”. …..

Robot Jailbreak: Researchers Trick Bots Into Dangerous Tasks – IEEE Spectrum
AI chatbots such as ChatGPT and other applications powered by large language models (LLMs) have exploded in popularity, leading a number of companies to explore LLM-driven robots. However, a new study now reveals an automated way to hack into such machines with 100 percent success. By circumventing safety guardrails, researchers could manipulate self-driving systems into colliding with pedestrians and robot dogs into hunting for harmful places to detonate bombs.

Heads up: 2 Python packages claiming to integrate with popular chatbots actually transmit an infostealer to potentially thousands of victims. Attackers are betting that the hype around generative AI (GenAI) is attracting less technical, less cautious developers who might be more inclined to download an open source Python code package for free access, without vetting it or thinking twice.

The First Virtual Meeting Was in 1916
“ At 8:30 p.m. on 16 May 1916, John J. Carty banged his gavel at the Engineering Societies Building in New York City to call to order a meeting of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. This was no ordinary gathering. The AIEE had decided to conduct a live national meeting connecting more than 5,000 attendees in eight cities across four time zones. More than a century before Zoom made virtual meetings a pedestrian experience, telephone lines linked auditoriums from coast to coast. AIEE members and guests in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, New York, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco had telephone receivers at their seats so they could listen in.
The AIEE, a predecessor to the IEEE, orchestrated this event to commemorate recent achievements in communications, transportation, light, and power. The meeting was a triumph of engineering, covered in newspapers in many of the host cities. The Atlanta Constitution heralded it as “a feat never before accomplished in the history of the world.” According to the Philadelphia Evening Ledger, the telephone connections involved traversed about 6,500 kilometers (about 4,000 miles) across 20 states, held up by more than 150,000 poles running through 5,000 switches. It’s worth noting that the first transcontinental phone call had been achieved only a year earlier.
Carty, president of the AIEE, led the meeting from New York, while section chairmen directed the proceedings in the other cities. First up: roll call. Each city read off the number of members and guests in attendance—from 40 in Denver, the newest section of the institute, to 1,100 at AIEE headquarters in New York. In all, more than 5,100 members attended.
Due to limited seating in New York and Philadelphia, members were allowed only a single admission ticket, and ladies were explicitly not invited. (Boo.) In Atlanta, Boston, and Chicago, members received two tickets each, and in San Francisco members received three; women were allowed to attend in all of these cities. (The AIEE didn’t admit its first woman until 1922, and only as an associate member; Edith Clarke was the first woman to publish a paper in an AIEE journal, in 1926.)”.. . .
