On this day in 1865, after white Southerners had extended the enslavement of countless Black people by concealing the Civil War’s end for months, Union troops arrived in Texas. #Juneteenth

#OnThisDay in 1865, General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX to read Order No. 3, which affirmed the end of slavery in the states of the former Confederacy. This momentous occasion became known as #Juneteenth, a combination of “June” & “19th.”

#OTD In 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news that should have come two and a half years earlier: all enslaved people were free. #Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom and a reminder that freedom delayed is justice denied.

For #Juneteenth: 70+ years after the Civil War, the WPA’s Federal Writers’ Project began interviewing elderly Americans who remembered being enslaved. These moving narratives & photos are now held here at the Library.

BREAKING: Iran has suspended its entire 60-day negotiation period with the US over the direct violation of the MOU’s first clause, with Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon constituting a breach less than 24 hours after the MOU was electronically signed, per Fars and Al-Mayadeen.
Iran’s negotiating delegation had already been preparing to depart for Switzerland to launch the first round of talks before Iran made the decision to suspend the entire trip.
Iran will also not unilaterally fulfill its commitments, and until Iran is fully assured Israeli attacks on Lebanon have stopped and the US has practically adhered to the first-clause obligations, talks remain cancelled.

The symbolism of the memorandum of understanding being signed at the Palace of Versailles is extraordinary.

Versailles represents the fall of monarchy, the rise of revolution, Napoleon’s empire, and later the Treaty of Versailles, the settlement that laid the foundations for the economic and political instability that eventually culminated in World War II.

There has always been a struggle between monetary sovereignty and transnational financial power.

I view Napoleon as part of that story. In my view, the sale of Louisiana to the US reflected a preference for raising capital through state assets rather than becoming dependent upon the powerful banking interests that were emerging across Europe, including the Rothschild banking dynasty.

Likewise, I see the post-Versailles order as creating an unsustainable debt-based system.

The reparations regime eventually led to the creation of the Bank for International Settlements, while the economic pressures imposed on Germany contributed to the conditions that enabled the rise of National Socialism in Germany.

Louis Nathaniel de Rothschild was arrested by the Nazis following the Anschluss.

My interpretation is that this reflected a broader conflict between the Nazi state’s vision of monetary sovereignty and established international financial interests.

I view Hitler’s economic program as an attempt to replace dependence on international finance with a non-usuary labor backed currency, and alternative monetary policy.

While history rightly judges National Socialism by its catastrophic crimes, I believe its economic model cannot be understood without examining its monetary policies alongside its political ideology.

My analysis of Iran follows a similar lens.

The Iranian Revolution rejected integration into the Western financial-industrial complex.

Yet in doing so, Iran became embedded within a regional security architecture that strengthened the military-industrial complex and decades of perpetual conflict.

What makes this moment different is that it may represent a transition from MIC confrontation toward FIC reintegration.

Not a return to the old Western-led order, but integration into a multipolar system increasingly shaped by China, BRICS, regional trade corridors, and alternative settlement networks.

The irony of signing this memorandum at Versailles is hard to miss.

A palace associated with revolution, empire, war, debt, monetary power, and the remaking of world orders becomes the backdrop for another shift in the balance between military power and financial power.

NEW INJECTION REGROWS KNEE CARTILAGE AND STOPS ARTHRITIS

A new shot literally regrows knee cartilage.

Researchers at Stanford Medicine have identified a novel strategy to regenerate articular cartilage in knees and potentially prevent or treat osteoarthritis (OA).

The method targets 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (15-PGDH), an age-related enzyme—or “gerozyme”—that accumulates in aging tissues and drives degeneration.

In aged mice, small-molecule inhibitors of 15-PGDH, delivered systemically or via intra-articular injection, promoted cartilage thickening and regeneration of functional hyaline articular cartilage.

This occurred without recruiting stem or progenitor cells; instead, existing chondrocytes underwent transcriptional reprogramming to a youthful state, with reduced populations of inflammatory and hypertrophic/degradative cells and expanded matrix-producing articular chondrocytes.

The inhibitors also reversed natural age-related cartilage thinning, improved joint function, and—when administered after simulated ACL injuries—strongly mitigated post-traumatic OA progression and associated pain.

Human OA cartilage explants from total knee replacements responded similarly in vitro, showing decreased degradation markers and evidence of new articular cartilage formation.

Given that an oral 15-PGDH inhibitor has already completed Phase 1 safety trials for age-related muscle atrophy, the findings open a path toward disease-modifying, regenerative therapies that could delay or obviate the need for joint replacement surgery.

On the other side of those same trades, more than a million investors lost about the same amount. The family didn’t risk a dime. They licensed the name, promoted the coins, and took a cut — World Liberty alone routes 75% of its governance-token proceeds to a Trump-controlled entity. When the prices collapsed — the meme coin is down 97% from its peak — the family stayed in profit and the buyers ate the loss.
