The Vote in Ohio
Great news for the Biden campaign
We now have the individual turnout data! More detailed analysis to come, but here are some quick topline results:
As we have seen in other states where abortion rights were at stake on the ballot, we saw big surges in turnout among women and younger voters. The electorate was +6 women, as compared to +3 women in the ’22 election.
Younger voters accounted for a larger share of the electorate than they did in ’22 as well. Voters under 35 increased their electorate share by just over 1 pt. While this might not seem like a lot, these odd year elections are usually substantially older than the even years.
The 1974 Sex Scandal that Drives Today’s Inequality
How secret, drunken, closed-door sessions, helped Congress shun lobbyists to craft a fairer society

We used to readily tax the rich (over 70%) and *enforce* actual payment. Then we stopped. Here’s why. And here’s how to make them pay them again.
We’re entering a new era of company towns
It can be easy to feel discouraged, but the First Gilded Age teaches us lessons on how we can fight back. Let me explain.
Company towns= feudalism. This should be illegal. Absolutely illegal.
Google is building multiple massive developments with 9,000 homes.
Facebook is building a development known as “Zucktown” with over 1,700 homes.
Elon Musk is laying the groundwork for a town called Snailbrook on thousands of acres.
Disney and Universal are also getting in on the action, with developments of 1,400 and 1,000 homes respectively..
Don’t forget Amazon getting in on the landlord fractional ownership thing!
PR puff piece detailing Cook Pharmaceutical’s labs for company homes in my hometown
We’re living in a Second Gilded Age. @RBReich
When inequality and corruption raged in the Gilded Age, we took action:
-Antitrust was used to break up monopolies
-Taxes were passed to stop wealth hoarding
-Corporations were forbidden from directly giving money to politicians and candidates.
We can do it all again.
Clarence pressured to recuse himself from Trump immunity case
“There are so many unanswered questions about the relationship of the justice and his family w/ the Trump admin that I think in the interests of justice, he should recuse himself,” Durbin said.
There’s a reason Reagan declared war on unions before he declared war on everything else – environmental protection, health care, consumer rights, financial regulation.
Unions are how working people fight for a better world for all of us.
Today is a good day to realize that all things Nazi must be crushed. These Putin-loving congressional republicans are the same ones who incited the insurrection. @HouseGOP
A Wisconsin lawmaker is rejecting calls from Democrats to rescind his appointee to the state elections commission, who was one of the Republicans who served as fake electors for former President Donald Trump in 2020.
In Europe if you ask the political class antisemitism is from immigrants and maybe college students but every country there has a party called Citizen Comment that 30 years ago was called the National Fatherland Front and 80 years ago was called 10th SS Hilfswilliger Abteilung

Pennsylvania poised to allow longer school days, shorter weeks
Democratic PA Gov. Josh Shapiro plans to sign off on bill cleared by Legislature
The legislation passed both chambers unanimously. It changes Pennsylvania law to allow for schools to complete the school year in either a minimum of 180 days or 900 hours at the elementary level and 990 at the secondary level. Currently, schools must do both. Sponsors said Pennsylvania has been one of fewer than 20 states with both minimum day and minimum hour requirements. They argued it has held schools to rigid schedules that do not allow for flexibility in addressing student needs.
The bill would give schools the ability to make changes to accommodate weather conditions, professional development and community events, supporters said. It also can help accommodate student apprenticeships, internships, and career and technical education programs.
It will also let schools track students who learn remotely through hours of instruction, rather than days.
Alex Jones is back on Twitter/X, at the personal decision of Musk
Any advertiser on Twitter/X, no matter how their ad was submitted,
including Google or other ad exchanges (after they’ve been warned of the
connection if they continue the ads) should be boycotted. Any
firm/organization that continues to do business with any of Musk’s
companies — including the U.S. government — should cease doing so as
soon as practicable taking existing contracts and supply chains into
account.
In particular, firms like Google who are now reportedly providing ad
services to Twitter/X should be the focus of particular condemnation
since they are actively providing a workaround for the collapse of
Twitter/X major advertiser sales. ~ANON

Tesla Recalls 2 Million Vehicles Over Autopilot-Monitoring Defect
The recall covers nearly all of the vehicles Tesla sold in the U.S. and includes those produced between October 2012 and last week.
Tesla is recalling more than 2 million vehicles across its model lineup to fix a defective system that’s supposed to ensure drivers are paying attention
when they use Autopilot.
Documents posted Wednesday by by U.S. safety regulators say the company will send out a software update to fix the problems. The recall comes after a two-year investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration into a series of crashes that happened while the Autopilot partially automated driving system was in use. Some were deadly.

Apple says it will no longer give law enforcement and government agencies access to users’ push notification data without a warrant.
Now Apple says it will now require a judge-approved order or search warrant, and not just a subpoena.
Honestly surprised this wasn’t their standard procedure in the first place, but they finally got caught!

The Campaign to Dismantle ERIC
Beginning in 2022, 9 states left ERIC, one of the best tools for ensuring accurate lists of voters. Documents we obtained show that some of the same people active in the attempt to overturn the 2020 election have been working to dismantle ERIC.How the election denial movement led several states to leave a bipartisan organization that helps them maintain up-to-date voting lists
“The Campaign to Dismantle ERIC,” Here’s what our investigation uncovered detailing how many of the same people who tried to overturn the 2020 election worked behind the scenes to push nine Republican-led states to abandon the bipartisan Electronic Registration Information Center, or ERIC, and how that exodus threatens next year’s election.
