My job, however, required me to be diplomatic.” The full quote in @postbaron’s book specifies that this came in the context of being asked for a comment by the NYT. But it’s still a shocking confession because he never let his newsroom make this clear either.

She was exposed for belonging to the Christian cult People of Praise which the FBI is investigating for sex abuse. McCarthy & Gaetz’s combustion buried that damning exposé.
