Laurence Tribe @tribelaw Serious question:
If they can search for classified documents at all the properties of a sitting president… why can’t they search for classified documents at ALL the properties of a non-sitting president who tried to overthrow the United States government?
One of these things is not like the other.

The massive FBI failure to take seriously the detailed signs of an impending domestic terror attack on the Capitol on Jan 6 lands on the desk of Trump-appointed Director Chris Wray. Does anyone wonder whether that has any possible relevance?
Bias and Human Error Played Parts in F.B.I.’s Jan. 6 Failure, Documents Suggest
The F.B.I. appeared to be blinded by a lack of imagination, a narrow focus on “lone wolf” offenders and a misguided belief that the threat from the far left was as great as that from the far right, new congressional documents show.
1933: Hitler pledged to “bring back to our people the consciousness of its racial and political unity” and “base the education of German youth on respect for our great past and pride in our old traditions.”
2023: DeSantis plans to remake the Florida public school system into a hub for far-right ideology, grounding curricula in “the history and philosophy of Western Civilization” and “course correct universities’ missions to align education for citizenship of the constitutional republic.”

The DeSantis playbook on race and education is just an updated edition of what I saw in the South in the 1960s.

FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY
WATCH for bckg. on Netfix “The Family”
It’s been happening annually for 70 years. Eisenhower  was responsible for adding, “In God We Trust” to U.S. currency and “under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance as ways to combat the “Red Scare,” or the perceived creeping rise of communism after World War Two with the United States jockeying for prominence with the Soviet Union.
Congress takes reins of prayer breakfast from secretive Christian evangelical group
lawmakers now have taken it out of the hands of the secretive Christian evangelical group that has run it for decades — the International Foundation, also known as the Fellowship Foundation or “The Family,” a name popularized in recent years by a book by the same name and a 2019 Netflix docuseries based on it. But there are still questions about just how much the new group is a break from the old.

The Stupid Incompetent Liars of the ILLIGITAMATE Supreme Court Considers the Algorithm
A very weird Section 230 case is headed to the country’s highest court.
even the majority cautioned that the drafters of Section 230—people whose conception of the World Wide Web might have been limited to the likes of email and the Yahoo homepage—never imagined “the level of sophistication algorithms have achieved.” The majority wrote that Section 230’s “sweeping immunity” was “likely premised on an antiquated understanding” of platform moderation, and that Congress should reconsider it. The case then headed to the Supreme Court.
This month, the country’s highest court will consider Section 230 for the first time as it weighs a pair of cases—Gonzalez v. Google, and another against Twitter—that invoke the Anti-terrorism Act. The justices will seek to determine whether online platforms should be held accountable when their recommendation systems, operating in ways that users can’t see or understand, aid terrorists by promoting their content and connecting them to a broader audience. They’ll consider the question of whether algorithms, as creations of a platform like YouTube, are something distinct from any other aspect of what makes a website a platform that can host and present third-party content. And, depending on how they answer that question, they could transform the internet as we currently know it, and as some people have known it for their entire lives.

JUST IN: Berkshire Hathaway’s Charlie Munger urges the US government to ban #crypto.
Isn’t he dead? His “moronic, ignorant, stupid, opinions about technology” are. What an idiot, no government can ban it. Classic case of this 90 year old being irrelevant.

  4. OpenAI cautions that its new tool – like others already available – is not foolproof. The method for detecting AI-written text “is imperfect and it will be wrong sometimes,” said Jan Leike, head of OpenAI’s alignment team tasked to make its systems safer.
“Because of that, it shouldn’t be solely relied upon when making decisions,” Leike said.

New U.S. Department of Agriculture rules will target fraud and increase oversight of the $64 billion-a-year organic food industry.
To be considered organic, a grower must be able to guarantee their food has been produced with no synthetic herbicides, pesticides or genetically modified seeds for at least three years, which is hard for ag inspectors to police. Growers call it the most important change the agency has ever made to its organic food program.

Dark chocolate has long been called a “healthy candy” for its heart-healthy antioxidants and low in sugar. And that’s all true, but it doesn’t tell the full story.
A new study by Consumer Reports confirms what other groups and researchers have found: Most dark chocolate is contaminated by heavy metals lead and cadmium. Consumer Reports’ health and food safety team tested 28 popular dark chocolate bar brands and found that all of them contained these metals.
