Right-wing Justice Samuel Alito scolds the American people for daring to criticize the Supreme Court, says that “saying or implying” the court is an “illegitimate institution” without “integrity” crosses an “important line.”

If Justice Alito does not like his integrity being questioned, maybe he should pay more attention to the effect of his decisions on people’s bodily integrity — and the integrity of our democracy.

Judge Cannon is clearly wrong, but she’s a sideshow now that the Court of Appeals has lifted her injunction with respect to the classified documents. On the eve of her stupidly extended deadline, DOJ should indict Trump and render her delays and game playing moot.

Virginia Thomas, the politically active wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, earned over $680,000 over five years while working at the Heritage Foundation. In his 2009 disclosure, Justice Thomas also reported spousal income as “none.” Common Cause contends that Liberty Central paid Virginia Thomas an unknown salary that year.
In 2010, she led Liberty Central, a think tank she founded to appeal to Tea Party supporters and to serve as the connective tissue between “Tea Party groups and the new citizen activists,” as she claimed in a 2010 interview. That group’s sponsors included the Gun Owners of America—a radical alternative to the NRA—and its gun-rights extremist leader Larry Pratt, who addressed white supremacists at a 1992 gathering in Colorado and appeared to call for war against the U.S. government in 2010. There’s a pattern in the Republic Party of using PR to mask its entanglements over the decades, but when we look deeper, they always keep showing up at the heart of their power. Often masked by confessional organizations. An inconvenient truth. The key features of the GOP’s populist radical right ideology – nativism, authoritarianism, and populism – are not unrelated to crafted mainstream ideologies and mass attitudes.
They are best seen as a wilful radicalization of mainstreamed values.

Donald Trump’s lawyers confirmed that the FBI retrieved 200,000 pages during their Search Warrant recovery at Mar-A-Lago. It was previously reported that 11,000 documents were retrieved. 200k is significantly larger than 11K. Trump still alleges that he “declassified” all of them.

The Florida Governor is asking people to donate money TO THE STATE to help with hurricane recovery when the State of FL has a $22 BILLION surplus and just last week he wasted $12 MILLION on a political stunt.
Am I the only one who thinks this is gross?

Considering that, historically, the rise of rightwing extremists to power has almost always depended on “moderates” and mainstream conservatives allying with them instead of holding the line, the reactions to #Meloni’s victory in Italy have been alarming and disheartening.
William F. Buckley’s defense of Apartheid is a good example of how conservatives endorsed forms of white authoritarian rule – while maintaining some plausible deniability by claiming that, of course, it was all about the specific conditions over there.
More recently, the Right has been obsessed with Viktor Orbán as their new savior and is clinging to a bizarre version of Orbán-Hungary as some form of white Christian patriarchal wonderland.
