In January 2011, Pennsylvania’s restructuring law will be fully implemented, opening to door for consumers to switch electricity suppliers. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has set up a website, PA Power Switch, that enables customers to compare electricity suppliers.

    As a representative of BlueStar Energy, I am happy to address your concerns noted above.
    In order to keep customer costs as low as possible, we require online enrollment. If we opted to enroll via phone or mail, this would increase internal costs, ultimately increasing the amount we would have to charge for energy. Because the customer is our number one focus, we have chosen the most cost effective enrollment method so we can offer the greatest amount of savings to the customer.
    Not only does our online enrollment process reduce costs, but our paper-less program also eliminates unnecessary waste and truck pollution as a result of paper processes. Being an environmentally conscious company, this is important.
    If you phone our office, our representatives suggest ways to enroll without owning a computer. We have a number of customers who have chosen to visit their local library, went to a neighbors home to borrow a computer or asked a family member or friend for help.
    The enrollment process is 5 easy steps which takes about 10 minutes. There are definitely opportunities to enroll with BlueStar without being a computer owner.
    While we understand not everyone may be able to access a computer to enroll, our intent has been, and continues to be, in the best interest of the customer.
