• The Beneficiaries: An estimated 261,000 low-income families and individuals struggling with rising healthcare costs throughout California.
• The Process: Debt is purchased in bulk from collection agencies and hospitals for pennies on the dollar, after which the nonprofit notifies recipients out of the blue that their debt has been cleared.
• Notification Timeline: Beneficiaries will begin receiving branded notification letters in their mailboxes in mid-July.
