New Mexico’s AG has been trying to get Epstein’s Zorro Ranch files from DOJ since February. Under oath, DOJ told the Senate they’d cooperate. This week, SDNY told his office directly: they won’t support the investigation. Say one thing under oath, do another in practice. And it’s not new. Former NM AG Hector Balderas says DOJ made an informal deal back in 2019 to route Zorro Ranch evidence back to New Mexico — then never did. He’s got a handwritten note and a Comey-family email from the released files backing it up.

In Sept. of 1780, James Lytton, Jr., the first cousin of Alexander Hamilton, bought the two Saint James islands east of St. Thomas from John James and Anthony Johns. He lived there until his death in 1801. So these islands are connected, even peripherally, to a Founding Father.

In 1776, after the death of the executor of James Lytton Senior’s estate, Thomas Lillie, James junior took over management of the estates, which had been returned by the purchaser, and at an auction held for the estate on 31 October 1777, James junior purchased the estates. He sold them almost immediately, on 11 September 1780, to John James and Anthony Johnson of St. Kitts. In exchange, he took over John James’ earlier property, the two St. James islands east of St. Thomas. Here, James junior lived until his death in 1801. In 1790, David and Sarah Beckman left a legacy to Christiana (Huggins) Lytton.

In 1759, she was married to the merchant, John Kirwan Venton in Christiansted. In 1763, he left St. Croix for New York. He went bankrupt, and he and his wife fled to New York. At the beginning of 1770, she returned to St. Croix, after the death of her father, and moved into his house in Christiansted. Apparently she was not on good relations with her husband, as he established himself in Frederiksted. As the settlement of her father’s estate began to drag out, Ann Lytton decided to return to New York. Her husband tried to prevent it, but she went in any case, and she was in New York by May 1773. While on St. Croix, she established a friendship with the much younger cousin, Alexander Hamilton, which remained for life. He later helped her when her means were slim, but in the meantime, he became her middleman in the transactions of her father’s estate, and in fact had a power of attorney from her. However, he had submitted the last bill for her on 3 June 1773, when Hamilton himself left for the New York.

The 68.7 acre island was purchased by my Grandfather Herman O. Creque in December 1936 from Edward George for $450.
During the 1800s this island was used for hunting wild goats for food. My grandfather also did hunting there for food for the family and laborers.
On August 13, 1981 the shareholders of CREQUE Estates Inc. sold the island to Arch W. Cummin of New York for $470,000.
There were 18 shareholders at the time, and I voted against the sale.
On April 27, 1998 Mr. Cummins sold the island to LSJ LLC Mr. Jeffrey Epstein for $7,950,000.

Herman O. Creque was a prominent merchant in the Virgin Islands and the son of Henry O. Creque, who founded the Creque Marine Railway on Hassel Island. Following his father’s death in 1915, Herman inherited and operated the railway until his own passing in 1949, after which it was managed briefly by his son, Henry O. Creque Jr..

Beyond the marine railway, Herman O. Creque accumulated 2,500 acres on the island of St. John during the 1920s to 1950s to raise cattle and cultivate bay leaves. His estates included Annaberg, Mary’s Point, and Lamesure. Upon his death, the land was left to his wife, Emily Creque, and their children, eventually leading to the establishment of the Virgin Islands National Park after conservationists Laurance Rockefeller and Frank Stick purchased much of the property in 1952.
Arch W. Cummin (1944–2024) was an American venture capitalist and real estate investor who lived in Palm Beach, Florida, and the Hamptons, New York. He is notably known for selling the 72-acre Little Saint James island in the U.S. Virgin Islands to Jeffrey Epstein in the 1990s for approximately $7.95 million.
Cummin, whose full name was Arch Walker Cummin, passed away on August 6, 2024, at the age of 80. His public records indicate extensive real estate holdings, including properties in Wellington, Florida, Bridgehampton, New York, and New York City. While often described as a venture capitalist, online discussions frequently question his background due to the limited public information available about his personal life and business dealings beyond his high-profile real estate transactions.
Creque Dam
West End, St. Croix Constructed in 1926 under the auspices of the U.S. Navy, the dam was designed to hold up to 9 million gallons of potable water for the town of Frederiksted.
Hidden deep in the “Rain Forest” in the northwest corner of St. Croix you’ll find Creque Dam a 45 foot high arch dam constructed to hold the water for Frederiksted back in 1926. At it’s time it was an engineering marvel able to hold up to 9 million gallons of water not it seems to hold very minimal water, if any at all. You can walk across the top of the dam and look down the downhill side at the steep drop below. Route 76 (also known as Mahogany Rd.), stopping beside the footpaths that meander off on either side of the highway into dry riverbeds and glens. Stick to the most worn footpaths. You can also hike along some of the little-traveled four-wheel-drive roads in the area. Three of the best for hiking are the Creque Dam Road (Rte. 58/78), the Scenic Road (Rte. 78), and the Western Scenic Road (Rte. 63/78).

St. John Billionaire Stephen Deckoff Purchases Epstein’s Private Islands
Little St. James is a 70+ acre property, whereas Great St. James 160+ acre property.
Stephen Deckoff purchased Little St. James and the neighboring Great St. James islands in May 2023 for approximately $60 million through his entity SD Investments. The acquisition from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate was finalized at roughly half the original $125 million asking price, with proceeds directed toward a settlement with the U.S. Virgin Islands government and Epstein’s victims.
Stephen Deckoff—formerly with Drexel, Burnham, Lambert and Bear Stearns—purchased the property in 2022. Drexel, you may recall, is where Leon Black got his start alongside Michael Milken. Stephen Deckoff is the co-founder of private equity firm Black Diamond Capital Management. He has been a resident of St. John since 2011 and has supported economic development, including following the hurricanes in 2017.
According to Forbes, he also owns multi-million dollar properties in Colorado, New York City, and Beverly Hills.
The dialogue between the men in the conference room revolved around the island which was to be used for tax evasion purposes and for luxury hotels includes this passage: “The island is owned by the US government. Part of it used for as a target range for the Navy. The government is preparing to relinquish the lease.”
