The CFPB was created in the wake of the Great Recession. Paired with banking reforms of Dodd Frank, which banned banks betting with your money, it’s protected wallets of Americans for over a decade. Pausing its work is like propping open the bank’s back door for robbers. There is absolutely no reason to dismantle the CPFB other than to empower fraudsters, which is what Trump and his businesses are continually found guilty of.
