Sept. 13 report from news outlet Business Insider, U.S.-based Aviatrade is currently selling an upgraded 2014 Gulfstream G650ER for $40 million — roughly 3,750 Bitcoin (BTC) as of this writing. Billionaires including Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Tesla CEO Elon Musk reportedly own the same model, which is capable of traveling up to 7,500 nautical miles, or roughly the distance between Los Angeles and Sydney. “We accept Bitcoin as payment for all bizjet [business jet] purchases,” states Aviatrade’s website. Aviatrade president Philip Rushton said that using fiat to purchase a private aircraft would be subject to cross-border restrictions in some countries. Cryptocurrencies, it seems, may offer less regulatory oversight for now.

International Fugitive And Disbarred Attorney Charged In Over $5 Million Cryptocurrency Fraud

Audrey Strauss, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and William F. Sweeney Jr., the Assistant Director-in-Charge of the New York Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”), announced today the unsealing of a Complaint in Manhattan federal court charging RANDY CRAIG LEVINE, a/k/a “Viktor Lapin,” a/k/a “Andre Santiago Santos Galindo,” a/k/a “Alexander Martinez Lavrov,” a/k/a “Alexander Kozlov,” a/k/a “Hristo Danielov Marinov,” and PHILIP REICHENTHAL with commodities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering offenses.  As alleged, LEVINE induced others to send millions of dollars to REICHENTHAL, who was at the time a licensed attorney, to fund the purchase of Bitcoin after falsely representing that he intended to sell large quantities of Bitcoin to buyers.  REICHENTHAL, who was purportedly acting as an escrow agent for the transactions, then sent a substantial portion of the money to LEVINE, before any Bitcoin was provided by LEVINE to investors.  Neither LEVINE nor REICHENTHAL ever provided any Bitcoin or refunded the investors’ money.

Jim Cramer  owns “so much gold,” he is adamant about leaving a bitcoin inheritance to his children. He is concerned about hedging against inflation and leaving the right assets to his kids. Cramer says he has some funds at Fidelity so it is likely the place he will go and buy bitcoin, mentioning that he could be doing dollar-cost averaging.

The Central Bank of The Bahamas is planning to launch a national cryptocurrency across its entire archipelago next month. Central bank digital currency, or CBDC, will be subject to the same regulations as the Bahama dollar, with anti-money laundering and Know Your Customer protections surrounding the creation of accounts to use the virtual currency.

Avalanche, a new blockchain protocol and cryptocurrency backed by Cornell’s Emin Gün Sirer, will finally go live in a few days. According to an announcement, Avalanche will roll out the full mainnet on Monday, Sept. 21. With the mainnet launch, the Avalanche (AVAX) token, the platform’s native token, can be listed on crypto exchanges, although Ava Labs did not specify which ones. Emin Gün Sirer is a computer scientist researching, developing and educating in the areas of network security, P2P systems, and digital currencies. He designed the first cryptocurrency based on a proof-of-work protocol, Karma System, back in 2003.
