If you think that specific rules on Automated Decision Making were introduced by the #GDPR to deal w the new algorithmic world, that’s not the case. ADM was already specifically regulated in Directive 95/46, & prior to that in the French Data Protection Law of 1979(!) 2/
We also have a couple of cases analyzed which saw DPAs blocking the use of Facial Recognition systems to manage access in schools because the consent they were collecting was not valid (Cases 30 & 31), as well as one case where substantial public interest justified FR (C 34) 18/
We need to understand & take into account how the #GDPR applies to these technologies & processing systems already, today, and make good use of it, before adopting new laws and before excluding DPAs from enforcing law against how new systems process personal data. 20/END.
