The man behind the digital ID push is Larry Ellison, owner of Oracle, CBS, CNN, and, soon, TikTok. He wants data centralization and total surveillance. “Citizens will be on their best behavior because we’re constantly watching & recording everything that’s going on.” Terrifying. And after the government combines your personal, banking, and voting data under a single digital ID, it will add social media and vaccine information.
Same with Real ID in the US. The Censorship Industrial Complex was dress rehearsal for digital ID.

Oracle’s Larry Ellison is funding Tony Blair Institute. Oracle is in the business of digital IDs. This is bad.

Digital ID begins as convenience and ends as control. Once your passport, bank account, SIM card, medical record, and voting rights sit behind a single switch, freedom becomes a permission slip. The real rehearsal wasn’t COVID passes or Real ID .. it was the normalization of merging identity with compliance. A society where access to life is toggled by code isn’t security, it’s soft totalitarianism.

Long ago in the Internet’s ancestor ARPANET days, there were no domains. Hosts were directly mapped to numbers. So, the first site on ARPANET was at our UCLA lab. The first host was host #1, which ultimately was mapped to UCLA-ATS. I say ultimately because there was something of a dance of different machines and OSes attached to that host number for a period, until it settled on UNIX Version 6 on an 11/45 full time.
So my first email address on that system was LAUREN@UCLA-ATS. Yes, at the time displaying email addresses in uppercase was the convention. There was a brief period where it was unclear if displayed addresses should be as “LAUREN at UCLA-ATS” or “LAUREN@UCLA-ATS” but we (or rather I, since I was largely in charge of the email stuff at the time there) pretty quickly settled on the latter.
Because the ARPANET backbone was only 56 kps (yes, that’s k!), convention was to queue outbound mail for up to 30 minutes or more to avoid flooding the circuits. I pushed to drastically shorten that interval and it seemed to work OK, so we never looked back.
Everything you’re seeing Trump doing in various cities now with his shock troops are really just practice runs to disrupt and/or invalidate the 2026 and 2028 elections — especially the latter by far. He only actually needs to scare off small percentages of voters in a handful of states.
I find that about 50% of #Google #AI Overview answers I see are incorrect, either in full or part. If you inspect the source links, which often is difficult because sometimes the associated sites don’t seem to contain the answers provided by the AI Overview, the root of the problem is still obvious. Google AI has absolutely no idea WHICH statements on which sites are correct or incorrect. This is blatantly notable with data pulled from discussion groups, where a thread may contain back and forth arguing or conflicting answers — wrong, right, or a mix — to any given question. Google AI appears to just make a guess and pick one — and about half the time that appears to be wrong. It’s even worse when these threads contain sarcastic responses. If anything, Google AI Overview answers seem to be becoming less accurate not more accurate. A true train wreck of AI misinformation and slop.

Education report calling for ethical AI use contains over 15 fake sources
On Friday, CBC News reported that a major education reform document prepared for the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador contains at least 15 fabricated citations that academics suspect were generated by an AI language model—despite the same report calling for “ethical” AI use in schools.

Received voting materials for the November California special election. It has one item: Proposition 50, that would change redistricting to counter the Trump-demanded changes in Texas. Arnold is against it but that seems to be actually increasing support for it. The formal funding against it reportedly is coming mostly from one rich guy. No surprise there. Currently 51% support it, 34% oppose, 15% undecided. Those most likely to vote mostly support it. The proposition only requires a simple majority to pass. This is all good news.

A new international study led by ANU and King’s College London found inhaled heparin, a cheap and widely available drug, halved the need for ventilation and lowered death risk in nearly 500 hospitalised COVID patients across 6 nations. Hard to blame Democrats for the shutdown when sources close to Trump say out loud that the president “welcomes the prospect of a shutdown.”

Trump posted that Mamdani – who he calls a Communist – will need funds from him for NY if he wins, and he won’t get it, so why should New Yorkers vote for him? Think about that. A president is threatening to withhold federal funding from a city if it elects someone he doesn’t like. This would have been an impeachable offense for 200+ years, but now, it’s just a Monday. The FTC has sued Live Nation and Ticketmaster, alleging that the companies worked with scalpers.
Ticketmaster allegedly let a few brokers have thousands of accounts and buy hundreds of thousands of tickets, often for resale.
This made it impossible for fans to get fair prices.
The FTC says they’ve gotten their hands on internal emails that provide evidence of the scheme.
