Reminder—50 years of tax cuts for the rich failed to trickle down, international study says. A new study from the London School of Economics says 50 years of such tax cuts have only helped one group — the rich.
The new paper, by David Hope of the London School of Economics and Julian Limberg of King’s College London, examines 18 developed countries.
Lutnick: “We have so many countries who want to do deals with us. It’s just not possible to talk with all over 75 companies — uh, countries, sorry.”

BITCOIN
Bessent even said it himself: “Bitcoin is becoming a store of value.”
This isn’t a fringe idea anymore. It’s entered the halls of power.
SWAN SAYS
Tariffs aren’t the endgame.
They’re leverage.
The goal?
Reshape the global economic order.
And force the world to play by new rules…
The Bretton Woods agreement in 1944 made the U.S. dollar king. Currencies pegged to USD. USD pegged to gold. Now that system is cracking—debt, trade imbalance, inflation, distrust. So what comes next?
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent dropped a hint before the election. “We may need something like a new Bretton Woods.” A complete reordering of the global monetary system. Not decades from now, but “within four years.” And Bessent knows this game…
He was George Soros’s right-hand man in the 1992 trade that broke the Bank of England. A move that forced the UK out of the European Exchange Rate Mechanism and rattled global markets. Now he’s not playing defense. He’s positioning himself as chief architect of the new system.
The old system is crumbling. The bond market—once the “safe haven”—is breaking. Volatility is through the roof. Yields are swinging wildly. Leverage is unraveling. And the world is noticing…
And what’s quietly proving itself amid the chaos? Bitcoin. Neutral. Scarce. Permissionless. Borderless. Uncensorable.
Bitcoin is not:
A crypto republic
Crypto democracy
Crypto socialism
Crypto communism
Bitcoin is crypto anarchy.
Miners don’t waste energy securing Bitcoin. The military industrial complex wastes energy securing the petrodollar.
Financial systems are complex and have a variety of use cases, strengths, and weaknesses. As a result there are a variety of perspectives for why investing in bitcoin may be a prudent decision. You can find dozens of well-written theses here:
RETHUGLICANS HATE TARIFFS
All trump had to do when he took office was leave things alone and take credit for Biden’s booming economy, but his ego just wouldn’t allow that.

So in other words, he will be exempting corporations that kiss the ring and give Trump money. Of course. That’s the main purpose of these tariffs. To give trump personal leverage over big players. Mostly to empower and enrich himself no doubt.
The only profit Trump made by announcing and then suspending the tariffs was made by the few people near him who were informed he was about to fold.
Nobody else gained anything.
Nobody.

“Your Friends & Neighbors” lets Jon Hamm sell you the life you can’t afford
With a recession looming, is now a good time to debut a show about a rich man with problems? Sadly, yes. “Your Friends & Neighbors” has little to share about making money or even keeping it. But it has plenty to pitch concerning the joys and burdens of conspicuous consumption.

Yale Neuroscientists Find: This 4-Minute ‘Brain Breathing Technique’
Increases Focus by 210% and Reduces Stress Aging by 12 Years (Even Works During Zoom Calls)
https://cabanacatalogs.com/yale-neuroscientists-find-this-4-minute-brain-breathing-technique-increases-focus-by-210-and-reduces-stress-aging-by-12-years-even-works-during-zoom-calls/
Rhythmic Coherence Breathing (4 minutes total):
Find a comfortable seated position
Inhale slowly through the nose for 4-5 seconds
Brief hold (1-2 seconds)
Exhale slowly through the mouth for 6-7 seconds
Repeat for approximately 4 minutes (about 15-20 cycles)
The 4-7-8 breathing method (inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, exhale for 8 seconds). While this doesn’t take exactly 4 minutes as our headline suggests, practicing this for approximately 4 minutes (about 4-5 cycles) has been shown in research to activate parasympathetic nervous system responses.

Rep. Mary Miller says that “climate change is a sham”:
“God controls the climate because he controls the sun and the sun controls the weather, primarily.”
@OliviaTroye Think twice before you take that cruise.
I worked the COVID cruise evacuations during Trump’s first term—they scarred me for life. And now, in his second? They’ve gutted the CDC unit that inspects cruise ships for norovirus, E. coli & other outbreaks. This is how preventable disasters happen. Again.
@Mikel_Jollett
I keep seeing this right wing talking point that Covid
was a “cold” and Biden, “ruined lives by making people stay indoors.”
At its peak, Covid was killing over 4,000 Americans EVERY DAY.
The common cold kills about 10 people per day.
This is a weaponized LIE Republicans tell.

Insanely prescient.
— Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark
I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time — when the United States is a service and information economy;
— when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other
countries;
— when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues;
— when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those inauthority;
— when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness…
The dumbing down of American is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance”
