Some Republican members of Congress are disseminating Russian propaganda

House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner confirmed during a CNN interview that some members of Congress, particularly within the Republican Party, are disseminating Russian propaganda: “We see directly coming from Russia attempts to mask communications that are anti-Ukraine and pro-Russia messages, some of which we even hear being uttered on the House floor,” Turner told CNN’s Jake Tapper.[1][2][3][4][5]
Turner specifically stated that “there are members of Congress today who still incorrectly say that this conflict between Russia and Ukraine is over NATO, which of course it is not.”[1][2][4][5]

He acknowledged that the spread of Russian propaganda “makes it more difficult for us to really see this as an authoritarian versus democracy battle, which is what it is.”[1][2][4][5]

Turner’s comments echoed those made earlier by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Michael McCaul, who said “Russian propaganda has made its way into the United States, unfortunately, and it’s infected a good chunk of my party’s base.”[1][2][3]
