Andrew Weissman, a veteran federal prosecutor on Mueller’s team says the DOJ’s midnight filing shows Trump is guilty of at least four crimes:
(espionage; contempt of subpoena; obstruction related charges; and unlawful retention of government documents).
For those asking:
HCS = HUMINT (Human intelligence)
SI = COMINT (Communications intelligence)
TK = not going to explain the letters, but I’ll say that it’s IMINT (image intelligence)
Three of our most closely guarded secrets.
THE RECORDS DON’T BELONG TO HIM
1) Justice Dept already reviewed the files
2) Trump doesn’t have standing to request a “special master” to review records seized from Mar-a-Lago… because the records don’t belong to him.
3) Trump is a lawbreaking thief.
4) Trump committed Treason.
Basically the official Republican position is: The president is above the law and can do whatever he wants. He is not bound by any law, if he wants to sell the US out to our enemies that’s his prerogative. Literally: Trump could shoot a guy in the middle of 5th Avenue.
Michael Flynn lied to the FBI under oath about his ties to Russia. Then, Flynn urged Trump to sell tech to 40 nuclear power plants for the Saudis. Then, Flynn brought QAnon to Trump’s attention in ‘17. Then Trump pardoned him. Then, Flynn tells Trump to seize the voting machines.

I held a clearance at various levels throughout my decades of government service. What’s really under those Top Secret cover sheets are hundreds of thousands of American servicemembers and intel community lives put at risk. We cannot accept this law-breaking anymore.
Laurence Tribe @tribelaw
This DOJ filing claims recovered documents showed that “certain pages of presidential records had been torn up” in violation of 18 U.S. C. § 2071, a crime that purports to “bar anyone from ever again holding a political office in the United States.”
“Her name was Reality Winner.”
I’m old enough to remember when such laws were misused against people so they had no defense in a court of law as to why they stole classified info to give to the American people & the institutions from which the info was being withheld. All you can do is the prison time.
I’ve always taken responsibility for my action. I did the time. But the labels “spy” and “traitor” still remain with me because the law under which I was charged is so broad and vague as to leave one with no legal defense. You did it or you didn’t, result or intent irrelevant.
Be careful what you’re demanding because we’ll be stuck with law similar to the WWI era laws that allow legal targeting of dissenters. The laws are already strong enough, it is the people behind them that abuse or ignore them. DoJ is not a democratic institution.
Reality Winner @reazlepuff Aug 23
I was not released early. I did my entire prison sentence like everyone else does, with the 13% taken off provided I wasn’t written up and stayed in positive programming. That’s BoP policy.
Facts matter, people.

They locked up Reality Winner and threw away the key…no bail, held for trial, and remanded to custody after trial… FOR ONE DOCUMENT (The document, btw, proved interference in the 2016 election.
Reality Winner was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison for leaking a top secret document about Russia’s attempts to interfere with the 2016 presidential election.
It’s so unbelievably ironic to me that the 11th Circuit Court in GA which was Ground Zero for the political persecution of Reality Winner is now the site of going after 2020 election interference. If only this court listened to Reality back in 2017 instead of silencing her.
They found top secret documents on his property after many rounds of ask and search. What’s the problem? Why isn’t he brought in for questioning? Was Reality Winner given the amount of leeway, delays and accommodations?
“if you or I were found with top secret information, we’d be arrested.”
#RealityWinner is a scapegoat a 2x Impeached racist who thought he was president of MAGA, Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, white supremacists and other scumbags like Bill Barr.
The first president to commit espionage against his own country is a Republican.
Gen-Z will make sure Trump and DeSantis will never “win” another election.
Krisi Noem is undermining the DOJ because that’s what MAGA fascists do.
“Garland now knows for sure that he must prosecute Trump for the crimes of criminal espionage … obstruction of justice … and concealing or destroying government documents IF the rule of law is to be preserved. We have crossed the Rubicon.” – Laurence Tribe
I just wish that some enterprising journalist would ASK Garland what he means by no one being above the law, and how he squares that with ALL OF THE GOP CRIMINALITY he has personally decided to leave unpunished.
