In the Miami Herald’s lawsuit to unseal Jeffrey Epstein documents, Judge Preska is at this moment ordering the release of a long list of deposition transcripts and other records !!!!!!
There are a lot of rich and powerful people sweating right now….and also people who covered for them all these years.
A federal judge on Thursday ordered the unsealing of key documents from a settled civil lawsuit involving Ghislaine Maxwell and victims alleging sex abuse and trafficking by the late Jeffrey Epstein.
Judge Loretta Preska ruled from the bench in a telephonic hearing that the public interest in the matter outweighed Maxwell’s claims that the documents would prove embarrassing or interfere with ongoing legal matters.
This is the culmination of two years of effort by @MiamiHerald @McClatchy to make these records public. Also, dogged journalism by @jkbjournalist @EmilyMichot @KevinGHall and others….Cost of this legal effort is astonishingly high. Today it pays off.
The documents ordered unsealed by Preska are from the process of discovery, where lawyers from each side can ask detailed questions of each other ahead of a trial. Specifically, they were motions already decided on by a judge who first heard the civil lawsuit from Epstein victims against Maxwell.
Preska said the presumption of public access to these documents “far outweighed” any rights to avoid embarrassment or annoyance claimed by Maxwell.
