Patti Curtis the new K12 STEM Education Fellow

Earlier this year, the STEM Next Opportunity Fund, in collaboration with the Department, announced Patti Curtis as the new Robert Noyce/Ellen Lettvin Informal STEM Education Fellow.  Curtis, who has led policy efforts for the Museum of Science in Boston for more than a decade, is a recognized leader and thoughtful collaborator in the science, technology, engineering, and technology (STEM) community.  Her accomplishments prior to coming to the agency include: working with Congress to design legislation in support of K-12 engineering education, with provisions within ESSA and the America COMPETES Act; helping secure technology and engineering language in NAEP and the Next Generation Science Standards; serving on the STEM Education Congressional Caucus and Title IV-A Coalition steering committees; and co-chairing the STEM Education Coalition.

Curtis is supporting the Department’s STEM efforts and work in collaboration with other federal agencies, such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the National Park Service (NPS), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).  She is also supporting the Department on key interagency efforts, such as the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC).  She is working out of the Office of Planning, Evaluation, and Policy Development (OPEPD) and can be reached at Pa**********@**.gov
