I can start with an uncomfortable question: Why is a ‘respiratory virus’ replicating inside the large intestine 676 days post-COVID-19 infection? #LongCovid

New research shows COVID’s impact is more prolonged than previously thought, with signs of inflammation and traces of virus detectable years after infection.

The results raise uncomfortable questions about long-term health implications that we are only beginning to understand.

Long Covid

59% of long Covid patients had organ damage a year later
Organ damage persisted in 59% of long Covid patients a year after initial symptoms, even in those not severely affected when first diagnosed with the virus, according to a comprehensive new study co-led by a UCL researcher.

Risk of Long Covid after reinfection by Omicron is almost 20%. The results of this study were widely reported but seem to have had little impact on policy or public attitudes.

Major media outlets somehow have a near complete blackout on #COVID and #LongCovid issues recently. The effects on our society are palpable but near invisible when media is contributing to a blackout of coverage. It should make us ask why.

The people that wear good masks in public, despite the immense pressure not to, are the true heroes of our time.

Healthcare workers: Children’s hospitals are bursting at the seams. ICUs are full, and emergency department wait times are inhumane.
Everyone is sick. Please help!
Government: Nothing to see here.

14% of Americans have Long Covid. 46,000,000 people.

How severe is #LongCovid for the up to 1 in 5 infected?

We now know:
• 75% experience limitations in their daily activities
• 25% experience severe limitations
• 25% experience no limitations
This means up to 1 in 7 infected experience some disability from infection.

This is also 100% consistent with employment data that shows 3/4 of #LongCovid patients can’t work at same levels prior infection & 1/4 can’t work at all. It’s the same numbers every time.

Does Meta misuse data? Has it violated a number of national laws? Has it lost track of the data it does hold? All of these are well documented.

Long COVID: Six At-Risk Groups Identified

As medical experts continue to exert effort in better understanding long COVID, they have identified six groups of people who might be the most at risk of developing the post-COVID syndrome.

Despite the extensive case reports and studies conducted on long COVID, the condition remains a medical mystery. Scientists are still unable to tell what really causes it, so medical experts turned their attention to how they can help prevent the cases from growing.

Pfizer Tests Pill That Could Prevent Covid Infection

Pfizer is investigating an oral antiviral drug that could prevent Covid-19 infection after being exposed to the virus, the company announced Monday, as scientists around the world work to develop new tools to fight Covid-19 and ease the burden on overwhelmed hospitals.
