Burry is highlighting a new paper by two Yale/Texas researchers, “Private Credit’s State Backstop: How Private Equity Socializes Risk Through Insurers.”
Firms like Apollo, KKR, and Blackstone have bought up life insurers. They’ve filled these insurers’ balance sheets with private credit, loans that are hard for regulators to check or price properly.
Life insurers now hold $849 billion in this kind of debt, more than double what they held in 2014.
Here’s the trick: If one of these insurers can’t pay its bills, states step in to protect policyholders. They do this by charging other insurance companies a fee to cover the gap.
Those companies then get to subtract that fee from the taxes they owe the state. So in the end, the public pays for it through lower state tax collections, without it ever being called a bailout.
This has already started happening. Two companies, First Brands and Tricolor, went bankrupt in 2025 after lenders realized they couldn’t properly value the debt they were holding.
And the next risk is AI: Big tech companies are funding their AI data centers using the same kind of complex, hard to value debt.
If AI spending doesn’t pay off fast enough, that risk doesn’t stay with tech companies. It lands on the same insurers already holding piles of this debt.

In a Congressional hearing FINRA representative admitted that the SRO Self Regulatory Organization FINRA fines go into a general fund that pays salaries.
This would indicate that FINRA is violating it’s own SEC approved financial guiding principles.
If the fines are supposed to be tracked in a separate accounting bucket. Why are they going into FINRA’s general fund 🤔

Donald Trump Jr. has quietly been making a fortune off of his father’s presidency.
Just after Trump was elected, Don Jr. invested in a venture capital firm called 1789 Capital.
Two years ago, the firm managed a few hundred million dollars. Today, it manages $3 BILLION dollars.
That kind of explosion demands an explanation. And when you follow the money, “smart investing” does not come close to covering it.
The pattern is obvious. 1789 invests in a company. A striking number of those companies then receive federal funding, win government contracts, or benefit directly from Trump Administration policies.
In the end, 1789 and Donald Trump Jr. stand to profit.
The real value 1789 offers isn’t investment expertise. In the words of Columbia Business School professor Angela Lee: “People are paying for proximity to power.”
Just 10 companies backed by 1789 have already received $1.6 BILLION in federal dollars.
Doesn’t seem like a coincidence to me.

Farxiga cost Medicare $4.3 BILLION in one year. Now it’s generic and I’ll sell it to you for $20. Here’s the scam nobody explains.
Farxiga (generic name dapagliflozin) treats diabetes, heart failure, and kidney disease. For years it cost around $1,000 a month. In 2023 alone, Medicare Part D spent roughly $4.3 billion on this one drug.
Then in 2026 it went generic. Same molecule. Same benefits. No patent. And the real cost turned out to be almost nothing. We sell the generic for $20 for a 90-day supply. Twenty dollars. For three months.
So here’s the part that should make you angry: it’s cheap now, and insurers STILL often won’t cover the cheap version. They steer patients to pricier options or bury the generic on a bad tier.
Why? Rebates. On expensive brand drugs, the middleman collects big rebates from the manufacturer and keeps a chunk. A cheap generic has almost no rebate to keep. So the more expensive the drug they push, the more they pocket. They don’t make money when you save money. They make money when you overpay.
On Farxiga alone, on Medicare alone, that rebate game likely kept them somewhere around half a billion dollars in a single year. One drug. Now imagine it across every drug they touch.
We took the middleman out. No rebates, no games. When a drug goes generic and gets cheap, you get the cheap price immediately.
