The DOJ didn’t use Cannon’s lawless ruling to send a message to the courts. It doesn’t appear set do so in the PrEPS case, either. Pretending Cannon’s ruling is normal is continuing the slide into crazy town.
Expand the courts! Not just the Supreme Court, either, but at the appelate level to deal with case overload, and reduce the “slam-dunk” likelihood of rulings comind before Federalist Society judges who Do Not Care about the damage they have done to the law.

@ElizaShapiro The Hasidic Jewish community runs scores of private boys’ schools that have gotten over $1 billion in public money. But a NYT investigation found they are denying students a basic education, trapping generations of kids in poverty. I was struck by similarities to the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints private schools and Fundamentalist evangelical Christian private schools. Keeping their children ignorant thereby making it harder to leave the community.
This is also a failure of state oversight. Got to wonder why Department of Education had turned a blind eye. Any private school should need to demonstrate their adherence yearly with state education standards and testing. Was that not done?
Therein lies the issue with private schools. They escape most oversight and regulation, which is why they want to be private.
