A Capitol Police memo says nine members of Congress were invited to attend the Sept. 18 rally. All but three declined. Those three — Republicans Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Madison Cawthorn — haven’t yet said whether they’ll attend or not.Federal officials have intelligence that members of far-right extremist groups like the Proud Boys & Oath Keepers are planning to come to Sept. 18 rally at the U.S. Capitol in support of those charged in January’s riot. The fence might also come back.

Treasury: Top 1 percent responsible for $163 billion in unpaid taxes
The U.S. loses roughly $163 billion each year in taxes owed and unpaid by the richest Americans, the Treasury Department estimated in a Wednesday blog post defending President Biden’s tax plan. “Today’s tax code contains two sets of rules: one for regular wage and salary workers who report virtually all the income they earn; and another for wealthy taxpayers, who are often able to avoid a large share of the taxes they owe,” wrote Natasha Sarin, deputy assistant Treasury secretary for economic policy.The Treasury Department estimated that the gap between paid and owed taxes was about $600 billion in 2019, and IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig has suggested that it could be as high as $1 trillion annually.
Janet Yellen warns US Treasury risks running out of cash in October
As the U.S. government gets closer to being unable to pay its bills, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Wednesday urged Congress to act quickly to raise or suspend the debt limit. The divided Congress faces a growing list of urgent matters when it returns from recess later this month, but Democratic leaders said they must address the debt limit. The Treasury Department has been using so-called extraordinary measures to pay its bills since, including suspending certain investments. If its cash on hand and temporary measures are fully exhausted, it would be the first time in history the U.S. was unable to meet its financial obligations. the Trump administration amassed more than $7 trillion in debt and said lifting the debt ceiling would be paying what she called the “Trump credit card.”

Honolulu police dept is firing officers who refuse to be vaccinated. One was fired who had 24 years on the force was told to turn in his badge and gun. Local news reports there are 18 officers who may be terminated.
